Grab a Camcorder and Capture Life’s Memories
There is a wide selection of camcorders that are basically categorized according to the medium used for storing the recorded videos. Although two categories exist in a higher category level, which are high definition and standard definition, it is no longer necessary to distinguish between the two because a vast majority of the current models are capable of recording high definition videos.
The storage media categories are internal hard drives which eliminate the need to buy additional discs or tapes, DVD discs which allow immediate playback of videos in a DVD player or a computer, removeable memory cards which are very much compatible with computers, and MiniDV or other format tapes. Choosing the type depends largely on your own discretion, and recording wants and needs. The quality of the video resolution that you would like would have to be thought about as well in connection to how you will be using the recordings, such as web uploads or heavy editing.
In addition to that, consider the zooming properties that you wish to have. Do you intend to record mostly indoor, outdoor, or at far distances? Answering this question can help you cut down the choices, and this can be further trimmed by thinking about the capabilities of the lenses that you’d like to be present.
Other features that are present with these powerful camcorders are blur reduction, dual recording for shooting photos and videos at the same time, surround sound audio, USB streaming for webcam purposes, and more. For some advanced needs, the ability to shoot at total darkness is a characteristic available to some models.
Since most of the recordings are to be done with an LCD screen, choosing the convenient LCD display should be prioritized. The models are grouped into two, which are models having less than 2.7 inches and models more than 2.7 inches of LCD display. Consider also the inputs and outputs that you will need in transferring videos and in integrating the camcorder with other equipment, such as audio/video terminal jacks, USB ports, headphone jacks, and microphone inputs.
Finally, count your budget. The models can cost to as low as $100 and as much as $1,500 or even more, depending on the functions and features that you are looking for. Since this is also considered as a piece of investment, care should be given to it especially to the LCD screen. Clean it when turned off with a soft and dry cloth, preferably microfiber cloth, to prevent scratches, and do not push hard when wiping it to avoid damaging the screen. Dampen the cloth lightly with clean water if necessary. If you ever do need to repair your Sony camcorder for example make sure to look for an experienced business that can help you without charging you more than the value of the camcorder itself. Following the proper care, your camcorder can capture moments worth reminiscing for a long while.
